Getting High on My Own Supply

The cardinal rule in business (legal or illegal) is not to get high on your own supply. I'm sure that phrase was coined by a criminal street pharmacist, but nonetheless, generally a good business rule -- UNLESS, you bake cookies! The baking business is the exception to the rule. After all, would you want to eat someone's cooking if they don't?? EXACTLY! So everything I bake, I eat! Plus, quality control right? Not to mention that they are just so darn good! It's a sacrifice that I make. I know, I know ... I'm just that kind of girl. Generous, caring, and willing to bite the chocolate chip bullet. It's a hard road, but I do it for you.

Exhausted

It's 12:38 a.m. ...

I'm still baking ...

Beyond tired ...

But blog I must. Even if just to say, I'm still baking.

Ready for Take Off

Today was by far my busiest day since starting 'mignonettes cookies'! Wow, what a whirlwind--I didn't even get through a third of my coffee today ... I know, right?!! Too busy to cafe--say it ain't so! It's so. I came across a quote by Robert Frost that reads, 'If you faithfully work eight hours a day, then you might become a boss and get to work 12 hours a day!' Being my own boss, employee, assistant, etc. is rigorous! Day started quite early and ended with me delivering an order to my first local vendor (Rafaello's Pizza in Palos Verdes)! Right before I left, I saw a customer eyeing my cookies, so I tried to hide out and see if he would bite! Man it was unnerving!! We ended up driving away not knowing whether he tried my samples and bought the cookies! But I don't want my new vendor thinking I'm a psycho, so away we went. I can't explain how exciting today was to see the project through! I guess I'm officially 'in business'. Also received a few web orders on my etsy page, and my bank offered to purchase some for their next meeting. An overall SWEET day ... except for the coffee. I'll manage :)

What the he** am I doing?

I decided to start a blog to navigate my way through unfamiliar territory. I figured this would be a great outlet for me (and entertainment for anyone reading) as I figure out what the he** I'm doing. I graduated recently with my degree in Global Business. Sounds snazzy right? Well, wait till you get out of the classroom and into the real world to figure out how to put it to work. I should have some idea as to what I'm doing, but I don't ... I totally don't.

Here's my dilemma: I started a company as a shoe manufacturers agent, which basically connects shoe manufacturers and buyers in global territories. Well, easier said than done. Building relationships and getting people to trust you when all they know about you is your email address isn't quite easy. On top of that, I had the bright idea of selling my favorite homemade cookies. I know NOTHING about the cookie industry. All I know is that people like my cookies, so here I am ... with a cookie business and one vendor, a little Italian pizza restaurant in my neighborhood. In the midst of it all, I love coffee ... LOVE COFFEE! It's my comfort. It's my hot liquid retreat amidst the madness. So, when shoe and cookie fail to deliver, know that you will at least find some coffee recommendations, tips, recipes, or read about me bragging on how great MY cup of coffee was for the day.  Anyhoo, thanks for reading. Now back to work ...
