ChocaJavaToffeeNut Cookies by Mignonette’s Cookies

What?!

Now with a name like that, I was utterly intrigued.  How could some of my favorite flavors be melded together into one of my favorite foods?   The smell of fresh-baked cookies even permeated through the unopened bag!  With one bite, I was completely hooked.  I AM completely hooked!

These divine num-nums are made with exactly what’s in their name: a little bit of semi-sweet chocolate chips, a hint of espresso, salty-sweet toffee candy, and finely chopped walnuts.  They are soft and rich cookies, dense with flavor and made with organic eggs, sugar, and oats.  The first bite you take, you are overwhelmed with how good these cookies are!  Notes of brown sugar and vanilla round out the ChocaJavaToffeeNut experience.  Each nibble brings a different layer of happiness, you can tell the cookies are baked with love and joy.

The holidays are fast approaching and finding unique holiday gifts can sometimes be a hassel.  Not anymore!  ChocaJavaToffeeNut cookies are perfect for anyone!! Your boss, co-workers, friends, family, mom, neighbor, agent, manager, industry friend, apartment manager, everyone!! I already know who I will be sending them to!  Even better, five percent of the ChocaJavaToffeeNut profits go to breast cancer research.  Multiple good deeds are accomplished with one delightful cookie!!  Below you’ll find where you can buy these fabulous sweet treats as well as the twitter feed of the talented baker, Mignonette Bailey! Enjoy!

Where Have You Been?! LOL

Ha, I know ... I'm deflecting. The question is, where have 'I' been?! Well, my hubby and I just found out that cookies aren't the only thing in the oven. Yes, that's right, baby #2 is baking away. Very exciting news that has taken more than its toll on my energy. But now that I'm back, I'm working on a very exciting Christmas package that includes a bag of my FAVORITE coffee and cookies! What's better than sweets and coffee for Christmas?? For a coffee and sweets lover, the answer is NOTHING! So think about yourself, your loved ones and friends while I wrap up the package details.

It's been a busy last couple of weeks on the audition front. Had a great audition and callback this week and a couple of auditions last week. Not bad ... not bad at all. :) As always, I'll keep ya posted!

Bake, Pray, Blog

Well if you've been skimming the blog, you well know that cookies have invaded my life ... in a good way of course. I was in the restaurant kitchen baking today and found myself subconsciously praying-- praying about the audition I feel like I bombed yesterday (did I mention I'm a commercial actor too) ... praying that the cookies came out perfectly, praying for A CLUE! I find myself smack dab in the middle of a baking business that I am feeling my way through one day at a time. From testing the recipe, to packaging, to shipping, it's all a huge step of faith. So, hence today's blog title, I bake, pray, and blog my way through.

You might be saying by now, the blog is called 'Cookies, Coffee and Shoes', but I haven't heard anything about the 'shoes'. Aha, you are right! My shoe business has been a bit neglected these past couple of weeks, but I did show it some love today. I contacted several vendors in Brazil (after doing an initial preview of their shoes online). And I'm planning for a big trip to Brazil in January! Pretty exciting stuff. But SCARY because it's already NOVEMBER! I don't have much time to prepare, but prepare I must.

By the way, today's a good day to place orders for cookies. They are freshly baked and will be shipping tomorrow to arrive within 2-3 days.

How's your week going? I hope it's off to a fantastic start.

Getting High on My Own Supply

The cardinal rule in business (legal or illegal) is not to get high on your own supply. I'm sure that phrase was coined by a criminal street pharmacist, but nonetheless, generally a good business rule -- UNLESS, you bake cookies! The baking business is the exception to the rule. After all, would you want to eat someone's cooking if they don't?? EXACTLY! So everything I bake, I eat! Plus, quality control right? Not to mention that they are just so darn good! It's a sacrifice that I make. I know, I know ... I'm just that kind of girl. Generous, caring, and willing to bite the chocolate chip bullet. It's a hard road, but I do it for you.

Ready for Take Off

Today was by far my busiest day since starting 'mignonettes cookies'! Wow, what a whirlwind--I didn't even get through a third of my coffee today ... I know, right?!! Too busy to cafe--say it ain't so! It's so. I came across a quote by Robert Frost that reads, 'If you faithfully work eight hours a day, then you might become a boss and get to work 12 hours a day!' Being my own boss, employee, assistant, etc. is rigorous! Day started quite early and ended with me delivering an order to my first local vendor (Rafaello's Pizza in Palos Verdes)! Right before I left, I saw a customer eyeing my cookies, so I tried to hide out and see if he would bite! Man it was unnerving!! We ended up driving away not knowing whether he tried my samples and bought the cookies! But I don't want my new vendor thinking I'm a psycho, so away we went. I can't explain how exciting today was to see the project through! I guess I'm officially 'in business'. Also received a few web orders on my etsy page, and my bank offered to purchase some for their next meeting. An overall SWEET day ... except for the coffee. I'll manage :)

What the he** am I doing?

I decided to start a blog to navigate my way through unfamiliar territory. I figured this would be a great outlet for me (and entertainment for anyone reading) as I figure out what the he** I'm doing. I graduated recently with my degree in Global Business. Sounds snazzy right? Well, wait till you get out of the classroom and into the real world to figure out how to put it to work. I should have some idea as to what I'm doing, but I don't ... I totally don't.

Here's my dilemma: I started a company as a shoe manufacturers agent, which basically connects shoe manufacturers and buyers in global territories. Well, easier said than done. Building relationships and getting people to trust you when all they know about you is your email address isn't quite easy. On top of that, I had the bright idea of selling my favorite homemade cookies. I know NOTHING about the cookie industry. All I know is that people like my cookies, so here I am ... with a cookie business and one vendor, a little Italian pizza restaurant in my neighborhood. In the midst of it all, I love coffee ... LOVE COFFEE! It's my comfort. It's my hot liquid retreat amidst the madness. So, when shoe and cookie fail to deliver, know that you will at least find some coffee recommendations, tips, recipes, or read about me bragging on how great MY cup of coffee was for the day.  Anyhoo, thanks for reading. Now back to work ...
